Keith has been an active member of ASQ since 1997. He is now a senior member and is an ASQ CQA, CQE, CSQE, CSSBB, and CMQ/OE. He holds Bachelor degrees in Engineering and Mathematics, and recently completed the requirements for his Masters of Science in Quality Assurance degree at Calumet College of St. Joseph.

Keith's career in Quality started long ago, during a Metallurgical Engineering research project at a steel forge in Trenton, Nova Scotia where the chief metallurgist strongly encouraged him to learn more about the field of Quality. This led to an elective class in Quality, where Keith found an instructor who became a great mentor and friend. Two years later, while completing his Engineering degree research requirements in 1999, Keith worked full-time at a small steel rail producer as an ISO Certification Specialist. Here he saw the company through successful certification to the ISO 9002:1994 quality standard.

This work led to a position as Operating Resource with Ispat Inland in the #3 Cold Strip Mill. Keith remained at Inland for three years, where he became a qualified internal lead auditor for ISO/TS 16949 and received Six Sigma Black Belt training at Whirlpool, a major customer. In 2002 Keith moved on to Merkle-Korff Industries as Quality Assurance Engineer and then Manager, where he specialized in statistics and Six Sigma projects.

Keith next worked as Certification Coordinator and then worldwide Product Quality Manager at NAVTEQ in downtown Chicago, the world's number one supplier of digital map data. Here he achieved and maintained certification for all North American operations (including over 50 field offices) to the ISO 9001:2000 quality standard, and the distribution operations to ISO/TS 16949:2002.

Keith is currently the Corporate Manager of Lean Six Sigma for Sisters of St. Francis Healthcare Services, who own and operate 13 hospitals and dozens of other facilities in Indiana and Illinois including physician offices, medical test labs, and long-term care facilities. Keith's next goals are still to be determined.

Dan is an ASQ Senior member and holds the ASQ CMI, CQT, CQA, CQE, CSQE, CMQ/OE certifications, and the SME CMfgT, CMfgE, and CEM certifications. The certifications are just one part of Dan’s knowledge and experience package.

Education includes a BS in Industrial Engineering Technology from Purdue University Calumet and an MS in Quality Assurance from California State University.

Work experience has been primarily in industrial machining and includes over 30 years in machining and equipment design, construction, service, and repair in different capacities including: machinist, supervisor, estimator, designer, and quality manager. Other work experience includes over 5 years as a limited-term instructor at Purdue University Calumet in quality related topics.

Past service work includes performing as a judge for the 2002, 2003, and 2004 Indiana Excellence Award and serving on the 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Board of Examiners.

Dan is presently self-employed by Synergrated, Inc. and provides management system assessment, assistance, and audit services to small companies.
